The outdoor campfire is designed to be a stand-alone outdoor firepit and is not designed to be built-into a masonry pit.
You can cover the outer face of the unit with a different material such as tile, marble, or cultured stone providing critical air vents are left exposed.
Clearances: The outdoor campfire can in fact be placed on top of a combustible flooring, but must remain at least 36" away from any combustible material from the sides. There must not be anything above the outdoor campfire.
